The University of Miami Global Academy (UMGA) offers an online middle and high school college preparatory program designed with students and their families in mind. UMGA provides students with superior knowledge of subject matter, informed awareness of the world around them, and courage to follow their dreams.
Fully-accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement, the highest quality standards were used in developing an online classroom that incorporates what parents expect from a private preparatory school.
Whether preparing for a concert performance, training for athletic competition, or auditioning for a role on Broadway, UMGA helps students sharpen their intellect to better compete or perform. Our online learning environment encourages exceptional critical thinking skills, develops curious minds, fosters ambition and leadership potential, and builds character focused on service to community and others. UMGA is ideal for:

- Advanced, or academically gifted students whose learning outpaces traditional schools;

UMGA Offers the Following Benefits
More than 120 courses, including core, honors, Advance Placement classes, world language courses such as French, Latin, Mandarinand Spanish, and many exciting electives.
Student learning flexibility is a key UMGA benefit. Enrollment is offered year-round. Students can enroll full-time (up to six credits during a fall or spring semester) or take individual classes, up to a max of three credits during the fall, spring, or summer semesters.
The UMGA approach to online education allows learners to learn at their own pace at the time of day that works best for them. Unlike other online high schools that follow rigid course plans, UMGA students can move through a course independently, based on their individual ability and allocate coursework to preferable portions of the day.
Our low 15:1 student to teacher ratio ensures that our qualified, certified middle and high school teachers can be dedicated to each learner’s unique needs.
Students and parents have the unique ability to communicate with teachers via instant messaging, voice or video. This effective, multipronged approach provides multiple pathways for students to master subject matter. UMGA educators are also happy to communicate with parents to answer questions and UMGA parents are invited to join the Parent Teacher Committee to provide feedback to our education team.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has approved courses in the subject areas of language arts/English, mathematics, science, social science/studies, and world languages. This is important because according the NCAA, “College-bound student-athletes must meet NCAA initial-eligibility requirements in order to practice, play and receive a scholarship in the first year of enrollment at an NCAA Division I or NCAA Division II college or university.”
UMGA students have access to the University of Miami resources.
Students are encouraged to contribute to their local community via volunteering activities, internships or local projects. Our full time students commit to participate in at least one local community-based “service learning” project during their high school career.
UMGA students hail from over 20 countries across six continents, including Argentina, Australia, Bermuda, Bahamas, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Latvia, Mexico, Monaco, Panama, Poland, Qatar, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, and Venezuela.
Students who are enrolled on a part-time basis can work with their school counselor to select a course not offered at their local school, take the course at UMGA, and then transfer credit(s) back to their local school upon successful course completion.
To ensure success and support, students are assigned a personal academic coach that addresses their personal and educational needs.
